WHAT'S A STORY SLAM?
A story slam is a live storytelling friendly competition similar to poetry slams. Storytellers have 5 minutes each to tell a TRUE personal story based on a THEME chosen for the event without the use of notes.

HOW IT WORKS
•Every story slam event has a HOST and a THEME.
•Audience members can prepare a story and enter their name in a hat or decide to sit back and listen.
•Ten people's names are picked from the hat by an audience member. (If you don't get picked, be sure to come back the next month!!)
•At the end of the evening the audience gets to pick their favorite who will go on to the finals. They will also receive a prize valued at $50.00.
•Each month there will be a new winner. In January 2019, winners from the fall will have the opportunity to come back and share a 10 minute story at our Grand Slam, we will have 3 judges. One Grand Slam winner will be announced at the end of the evening! Surprise Prize.

STORY SLAM RULES
•Five minute stories are required. If you go over there will be a 2 minute peace period but that’s it. It would be a shame if we didn’t hear the ending.
•Tell us a story that has a conflict with a resolution or lesson.
•No notes. You won’t need them. It’s your story. Speak from your heart and Invest in what you say.
•No props. Just you.
•Know your beginning, middle and end. This will keep you on track. Content is important but be sure to edit.
•Be sure to connect the story to the prompt.
•Please no ranting, no preaching, no politicizing.
•Most of all remember to breathe, enjoy the opportunity to be heard.
•Be brave and have fun!!
