Join us for an exciting evening of Schooled Tales with your host, Babs Colaciello. Get ready to indulge in a magical blend of TALES + ART, +TREATS, +LIBATIONS as we embark on a new cycle of Story Slams leading up to our Grand Slam in December.

Whether you're a seasoned storyteller or a first-timer, all are welcome to take the stage and share a true story, honing the craft of oral storytelling while connecting with our vibrant community. Audience members will have the exciting opportunity to vote for their favorite storyteller, with the winner receiving a $50.00 Gift Certificate to WOLF & CUB, our beloved downtown Jax sponsor retail shop.

Our theme this month in honor of Teacher’s Appreciation Week is TEACHER, TEACHER. Gain inspiration from the wise words of Edna Walling, Robert Frost, and Henry Brooks Adams as we explore the profound impact of teachers and the lessons they impart. WHAT'S A STORY SLAM?

A story slam is a live storytelling friendly competition similar to poetry slams. Storytellers have 5 to 7 minutes each to tell a TRUE personal story based on a THEME chosen for the event without the use of notes.

HOW IT WORKS

• Every story slam event has a THEME.

• Audience members can prepare a story and enter their name in a hat or decide to sit back and listen.

• 8 - 10 people's names are picked from the hat.

• At the end of the evening the audience votes for their favorite storyteller.

• The winner receives a $50.00 gift certificate!

STORY SLAM RULES

•Story must connect to the Theme.

•No notes.

•No props.

•Please no ranting, no preaching, no politicizing.
