A Captivating Memoir and 7-Song EP Chronicle a 30-Year Artistic Journey by Jennifer Chase

Mark your calendars for November 29 as Jennifer Chase, a revered veteran of the Jacksonville Arts and Music scene for over 30 years, takes the stage at BABS'LAB for an exclusive one-night retrospective performance. Directed by Barbara Colaciello the evening will feature selections from her extraordinary memoir and a seven-song EP, both titled "I Can Smell You from Here."

"I Can Smell You from Here: Thirty Years, Seventeen Letters to My Town 1993-2023" is a memoir that intimately explores Chase's artistic evolution, spanning three decades of creativity. She artfully unravels the intricate tapestry of emotions, relationships, and experiences that have defined her extraordinary career, a journey that has transcended borders and graced stages in France, Senegal, Spain, and Mexico. With evocative storytelling, she exposes 17 heartfelt letters to the city that has served as her muse and sanctuary, "in sickness and in health."

The live performance of her music, featuring special guests Michelle Bajalia and Holly Decardenas, mirrors the essence of her memoir. This melodic backdrop embarks on an emotional journey that echoes the narratives and revelations encapsulated within her heartfelt letters.

Supported by a Community Foundation for Northeast Florida Art Ventures grantee, "I Can Smell You from Here" is far more than a memoir and EP; it is a heartfelt tribute to the undeniable power of art and community. It serves as a testament to the enduring influence of the people and places that have kindled her passion and driven her to new artistic heights.

PARKING: You can use the parking lot on Phyllis Street attached to YELLOW HOUSE directly across from CoRK North.  It’It's also permissible to park on the grass as well.
