Embodied Story Shaping: Advanced Improv - 2025

Embodied Story Shaping: Advanced Improv - 2025
Improv to the Rescue (ITTR) with Barbara Colaciello | BABS'LAB
This advanced course invites experienced improvisers to deepen their practice through an embodied approach to storytelling. With a faster pace and a contemplative edge, we’ll experiment with rhyme and timed movement “machines,” we’ll devise scenes from prompts, and push the boundaries of improvisation. Students will refine their storytelling skills, expand expressive range, and cultivate presence while shaping stories that live fully in the body as well as the imagination.
In the first session, students will review essential improvisation techniques

Positions: Use physical positioning to create character relationships, status, and emotions, setting the stage for scene development.
Bench Game: Centered around a simple bench, this game encourages quick character development and improvisational dialogue as players interact in evolving scenarios.
Machines: Collaborate to create a moving, living "machine" with sounds and motions, sparking imaginative connections and narrative ideas.
